Vampire Bats Have Sensitive Heat Sensor

Vampire bats using a highly sensitive heat sensor near the nose and mouth to determine the presence of blood. David Julius of the University of California, San Francisco, United States, researching sensors that and quoted the website LiveScience, Wednesday (03/08/2011).

Vampire bats are sleeping target animals, like birds and mammals, even humans. Research has shown that bats have cells in the brain that are sensitive to sound a sleep breathing animal.

Heat sensor makes bats can distinguish skin that covers the body part containing fresh blood and warm with a hair area. They use sharp teeth to make the holes 5 millimeters square on the skin and suck the blood of animals without waking.

Bats use a receptor that is found in mammals, including humans, to feel the heat and spicy chili. However, bats receptors capable of detecting lower levels of heat, about 30 degrees Celsius, from a distance of 20 centimeters.

Mini Frog Species Discovered in Australia

Mini frog species that are only measuring 2 cm was found in rocky areas and dry in the plains of Australia. Frog species name is Uperoleia saxatilis. Is a researcher from the Australian National University (ANU), Western Australia Museum, and University of Western Australia who discovered the frog.

Renee Catullo, researchers from the ANU, said that the species is unique. "This frog has a large gland and brown spots on his body. Frogs also have a different calling songs of other species," says Catullo.

Although a new species, the frog is already common. Scientists know the novelty after observing the frogs that were found in dry areas of Australia. Genetic analysis allows scientists to know the novelty of the species even though its characteristics are very similar to other species.

"Still less is known about the tiny frogs are brown. However, this frog has been found following the cyclone and rainy there in rocky areas and creeks. This discovery shows still need for further research on biodiversity in the Australian desert," Catullo said as quoted by International Business Times , yesterday (27/07/2011).

Korean Scientists Create Glow Dog

South Korean scientists on Wednesday (07/27/2011), stated that they managed to create a glowing dog through cloning techniques. The dog is expected to help other scientists find a cure deadly diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.

Genetically modified female dog named Tegon was born in 2009. Dogs can be issued a green color when given the antibiotic doxycycline. According to scientists, the dog's ability to produce light can be activated or deactivated by adding food to the food drug.

"The creation Tegon opens new horizons for the injected genes to create a glowing dog can be substituted by a gene that spurs deadly disease in humans," said Byeong-Chun Lee, one of the researchers, as quoted by FoxNews.

Chun Lee says, Tegon created by somatic cell nuclear transfer technique is also used to create another dog named Snuppy the Afghan hound in 2005. Creation of a dog to find treatments for important diseases of dogs and humans have 283 kinds of diseases are similar.

According to South Korean news agency, Yonhap, the experiment of making these dogs cost about 3 million U.S. dollars (equivalent to Rp 25 billion) and spent the next 4 years. The results of research scientists is published this month in the journal Genesis.

Rainbow Frogs Appear Again in Borneo

Scientists are combing the mountains in Borneo Borneo found a rainbow frog species that have not been found since the last 87 years. This time, they successfully mengabadikannya and photos is a picture of Borneo frog world's first rainbow. Previously, documentation of toads are only a photo illustration

Conservation International, a non-profit organizations that focus on the sustainability of the environment include rainbow toads borneo (Ansonia latidisca) in the list of "Top 10 Most Wanted Lost Frogs." The Board also expresses concern that time may have been endangered frogs. The toads were last seen by European explorers in 1924.

According Indraneil Das, professor of University Malaysia Sarawak origin who led the expedition, they do a search since last August but failed to find the frog. After dilution to focus on mountain areas dieksporasi Penrissen rare for the last century, they finally find the three pieces A. latidisca stay alive in three different trees. Found piston consists of a frog is a male, female, and a small frog.

"It's nice to know that nature can offer you a shock when we wanted to give, especially in the current extinction crisis continues to expand on our planet," said Robon Moore, amphibian specialist researchers from Conservation International announced the findings of the current.

Although unable to find, Das and his team refused to reveal a certain position in order to avoid catching the toads wild because of the high demand of these colorful amphibians. However, the researchers will continue to find out about the population of this frog in Penrissen.

Various Biota Rare in Mekongga

More than 10 rare freshwater biota found researchers from the Indonesian Institute of Sciences in Mekongga Mountains region, Kolaka, Southeast Sulawesi. Based on these findings, researchers recommend that LIPI Mekongga Mountains region must be protected.

LIPI researchers study, Reny Hadiaty Kurnia, while this record there are 13 endangered biota in the river Mekongga Mountains. Daisy Wowor, LIPI researcher, said most of the biota that includes crustaceans. "For the two types of freshwater biota, shrimp and crab, we have yet to see or find the same data with other ecosystems in the region, outside Mekongga Mountains region, so we still need to research them further," said Daisy.

However, according to him, they should compare with other species ever found in the waters of the freshwater island of Sulawesi, although provisional estimates of the outcome of research is-biota biota is a new finding.

Reny also added, "this Mekongga Mountains Region must be protected because it stores the most significant potential for human life and the interests of science. There are indications of population growth of freshwater biota in the region caused by the community threatened to exploit this natural resource in a way not environmentally friendly."

10 Smartest Animals In the World

Do you know what the world's most intelligent animals ever AOS? or have you ever wondered what the most intelligent animal in this world? This may be a large list of world's smartest animals AOS written by Bryan Johnson. We hope that you enjoy this list of the World

Earth is full of various creatures. Living organisms need to listen, think, view, and adapt appropriately in order to grow, develop, and survive on this planet. Animal kingdom is built around the primates, mammals, mice, whales, marsupials, birds, reptiles, and mollusks, to name a few. As humans, we are proud to be a thinker and intelligent species dominate. This has lifted us to the top of the food chain, but many animal populations have also been successful in breeding, developing and adapting to the world and climatic conditions.

It is amazing to see that some animals really have a sense of natural phenomena that are not known to man. The best example of this is the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami. Many types of animals appear to clear the hill before the tsunami hazard for humans. The animal population is much more intelligent then a lot of people to give them credit. They have a language, behavior, rules, and the purpose for survival. Here is a list of the Top 10 smartest animals and the reasons why they are so special.

This species is definitely a member of the genus Portia spider and the smallest creatures in the list.

White-whiskered Portia, they inhabit the wastelands and secondary forests in Africa, Asia, and Australia. The spider has shown the ability to study in laboratory tests and a bug has been labeled the smartest in the world. They perform surprisingly well on a variety of problem-solving tasks. One of the principles they lure skills other than spider webs for their food. To do this they will be pulling out the rhythm on the corner of the web to mimic the trapped bug or insect intruders. If Portia had encountered this type of spider before, it will remember what rhythmic patterns used to achieve success.

Portia labiata that had large eyes and have seen the tremendous instinctive behavior. The spider who planned to use trial-and-error approach to hunting and cognitive showed a strong base. When prey comes and goes, the spider will sit and wait for hours to have a perfect moment to attack. Next, plan ahead and understand that eating will eventually return. The spider has also been showing signs of selective attention by identifying certain objects and prey upon others.

There are hundreds of species of rodents in the world. Rats are one of the most studied and tested the animals on the planet. They have research and test subjects for a variety of famous and influential physiological studies. The reason for this is that rats, AOS is similar to human psychology and they are great for comparison experiment. All the rats learn new behaviors and tricks that are very easy. A 2007 study found that mice had metacognition, which is a mental ability previously only been documented in humans and some primates.

Rats have a remarkable sense of smell and hearing. They have been trained to detect landmines and bombs. Research and technology have suggested that even rats can smell and identify human sputum samples infected with TB. These animals are incredible maze solving. Rats are social animals and showing signs of remorse, joy, loss, and stress. They dream in a very similar way as humans. They also demonstrate exceptional organizational and technical maintenance. Just remember, rats are intelligent and friendly creatures so don, AOT fear them. I included this funny clip rats.

I have bundled the two together because both are members of the Corvidae family of birds. This family is widely regarded as the most intelligent of all birds. Peak crow scale IQ, which is a scientific test to determine the intelligence of birds. They can count, distinguish complex shapes, and perform the tasks of observational learning. Crows are very social animals and will be involved in the air to form a jousting sequence power. Wild hooded crows in Israel have learned to use bread crumbs as bait fish, think in advance and anticipate the catch.

The New Caledonian Crow have been very studied for its ability to use these tools in every day looking for food. This includes creating a knife that cut from the leaves and stems of grass. They are also using advanced picking, smoothing, and bending of twigs and grass stems to produce a variety of food substances. Crow is similar to crow, but larger size. Both species are black and the main difference is in their vocalizations. Ravens do a lot of the same behavior as crows, but they have been recognized for their ability to drop the nuts, shellfish, muscles, and oysters on the highway, waiting for cars to run them over, and then collect the prize.

Border Collie is widely regarded as the most intelligent dog breeds in the world. They usually spend their time herding sheep and cattle handling a variety of forms, but also make great pets. With various forms of physical exercise and mental stimulation this dog is the fastest to learn. The breed originated in Scotland, Welsh and English border and the dogs make a direct impact on the agricultural industry. It was decided that in certain districts trained collie Australian Outback will do five times the amount of work that humans can manage. Border Collie dogs dominated the sport over all breeds.

They excel in the high jump, the utility of the course, fly-ball, and even to take first place in dog dancing competitions. They have an incredible sense of smell and is widely regarded as the dogs are great. They can be trained as drug dogs, or in search and rescue as well. This dog obviously will recognize you as an individual personality, they will learn your routine, anticipate what will happen next, and find ways to get what they want.

These creatures live in deep water. They are family owned and cephalopods molluscs class. All types of cephalopods are known to have exceptional intellectual abilities. Octopus is considered the most intelligent invertebrate life. In the experimental conditions these animals have shown short-and long-term memory. They have a remarkable observation of learning and problem solving skills. Octopuses have nervous systems very large, but only partially found in their brains. About two-thirds of the octopus, ao neurons can be found on the rope around and inside the sleeve.

There are arm has a very large autonomy. They are expert mimicry and camouflage. They are professional escape artist and can often be found on the hull of crabs, eat the catch. Animals are very sharp eyesight, sense of touch, and very fast. There are reports from the North Pacific Giant Octopus at £ 600, with a range of hands 30 feet. They don, AOT make a pet or a big zoo attraction. In one recent story, a flooded octopus Santa Monica Pier Aquarium by turning the valve and let hundreds of gallons of water overflow tank.

African Grey parrot is a species found in West and Central African rain forest. Parrots have long been able to demonstrate that they can imitate human speech, but the African Grey can associate words with meaning and form small sentences. These birds communicate with each other through songs, calls, and body language. African Grey's can easily be trained to have conversations and activities. They managed to imitate, create voices and sound perfect household. One specific example of Alex birds. Alex can identify more than fifty objects, seven colors, five shapes, and a numerical value to six. He understands the difference between large and small, above and below, and even show emotion understanding by telling the handler "will go away" when he became bored with the test.

Then there is the story of the African Grey Parrot in Nagarey, Japan lost by their owners, wounded, and sent to a veterinary hospital. While in hospital the bird began to speak with a veterinarian stating "I'm Mr. Yosuke Nakamura." He also provides a complete home address to the last number. Pretty sure he was right and returned to the house, but not before entertaining the hospital with a song and dance.

4. Elephant

There are three living species of elephants, African Bush Elephant, African forest elephant and Asian elephant. All the offspring is estimated to have inherited the same genetic genius. In many cultures the elephant is seen as a symbol of wisdom and are known for their incredible memories. They create a mental map and is said to remember the exact location of water holes and feeding them is not visited for years. Elephant is the largest brain of any land animal. Elephants have exceptional hearing and they use their ears and trunk to listen. They communicate with the bellows, roars, like a trumpet call, and can even send sound remotely using the land.

This animal was one of the few species that has shown mirror self-recognition and can identify themselves as independents. It is considered a test basis of empathy, altruism, and higher social interaction within a species. Elephants have been noted to various behaviors. Including the actions associated with grief, making music, love, play, and the use of sophisticated equipment. Elephants have an incredible sense of artistic achievement. They could paint portraits that express themselves. Check out this amazing video elephant painting another elephant three-dimensional image.

Apart from humans, monkeys are the most widespread genus in the world. Rhesus monkeys are known for intelligence and because it has been widely used in biological and medical research. This beast has a remarkable memory, the ability to learn, and make your own decisions. They use a very similar facial expressions and understood by humans. Rhesus Monkey's have demonstrated suicidal tendencies, planning attacks, and very socially complex animals. They have detailed vocal tract that share similarities with human communication.

Research on the genome sequencing of the Rhesus Monkey completed in 2007, making it the second non-human primates to do this. This shows that humans and apes share 93% of their genetic DNA. Human and ape chromosomes of mosaic with one another. Monkey species, along with many others, have been used to lure monkeys throughout history. This is a roman style battles between monkeys and other exotic animals. Monkey's done amazing in this competition, won with intelligence. This gave birth to the legend of Jacco Macacco, which is celebrated gladiator monkeys. With precision engineering and extraordinary he usually sends his opponent in three minutes or less.

Families with cetacean, which consists of the dolphins and whales are considered as the most intelligent animals that inhabit the oceans. Dolphin a bottle live in warm waters worldwide and is the most intelligent species of dolphins. It has a very large brain and the cerebral cortex and the frontal lobe is 40% larger then humans. Cerebral cortex is the part of the brain responsible for social communication, abstract information processing, problem solving, and intelligence of a higher lever. Dolphins bottle very easily trained. They have been found to have the ability to think, plan, solve problems, think abstractly, comprehend ideas, and learn from previous experiences.

They use echolocation to hunt prey, and certain forms of squeaks and whistles to communicate with one another. It is also interesting to see that on many occasions this dolphin show remorse for other species and are aware of the signs. In one recent story, the local dolphin named Moko saved two Pygmy sperm whales stranded on New Zealand. Pope had been stranded for hours when Moko appeared and led the pair through the bars of sand to safety. It was a beautiful sight for locals and become national news.

This beast can be found in wet tropical forests and savannas of West and Central Africa. Chimpanzee's to learn, perform the tasks of thinking organization, and has a memory better then any other animal. They have been known to beat the college-educated people in the memory test. They can be taught to use computers to solve numerical problems. These animals can quickly adapt and perform sign language to communicate with humans. Chimpanzees have been observed using advanced knowledge. This includes creating a spear to take animals out of small holes in trees, using branches to lure and capture prey, using stones to break nuts, and leaves a sponge to absorb water.

They have seen an attack using tactical maneuvers, such as flanking prey. They often use mental manipulation within their family. Chimpanzee Genome Project is completed in 2005. This suggests that chimpanzees share 98% of the same genetic DNA as humans. It is approximately four to six million years since humans and chimpanzees that deviate from their common evolutionary ancestor. More recently, chimpanzees have been seen teaching sign language to their babies without human intervention. We have just started to understand the mental ability chimpanzee true.
