Breaking News: Dallas Cowboys Head Coach Wade Phillips Fired After 1-7 Start

Breaking News: Dallas Cowboys Head Coach Wade Phillips Fired After 1-7 Start. Well, the other shoe has dropped.

Many were speculating about what Jerry Jones, the most widely known owner in the National Football League, would do if the Cowboys kept losing this season. Would Wade Phillips, the Cowboys head coach, lose his job or would Jerry Jones wait until the end of the season to do something?

Well, according to a report from the Dallas-Fort Worth Fox station, Wade Phillips has been removed of his position as head coach and Jason Garrett, the assistant head coach, will be named the interim head coach.

I’m slightly surprised, but I’m not in some other aspects. I knew Wade Phillips would be gone, but I expected Jerry Jones to wait until the end of the season before he fired Wade Phillips, but Jerry had other ideas.

The Cowboys are one of the worst teams in the league finishing 31st in the league in points allowed on defense with an average of 29 points a game, that’s a touchdown a quarter, and are 19th in the league in scoring with 20.1 points a game.

The Cowboys were second in the league just the previous year in scoring defense, but many felt that Wade Phillips playcalling was too obvious this year, and teams exploited the Cowboys.

You knew the Cowboys lost Wade Phillips the moment Tony Romo was injured by the Giants, breaking his left clavicle bone, when he was hit by Giant linebacker, Michael Boley. You just were wondering when were the Cowboys going to lose him.

Well, the team has scheduled a four o’clock appointment with the media this afternoon to presumably confirm Wade Phillips’ firing as the Cowboys head coach.

Nothing is official, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.
